The short version: AWT does not track you or your site. There is no analytics, no account, no licence key, and nothing about your site is sent anywhere.
When your site checks for updates
A site running AWT asks the update server (this website) whether a newer version is out. It reads one file, useawt.com/updates/v1/awt.json, and that file is the same for every AWT site in the world.
The request carries nothing about your site. No address, no version number, no visitor data, no cookies, and nothing in the web address beyond the name of the file. WordPress normally puts your site’s own address in the request header. AWT deliberately replaces it before the request leaves.
Our web server records the request the way every web server does: the time, which file was asked for, and the IP address it came from. Nothing in that record says which site it was, which version it runs, or who owns it. We use those logs only to keep the server working.
You can turn off update checks in AWT Settings, on the Tools tab.
When AWT installs an update
The update itself is downloaded from GitHub, where AWT is published.
We receive no information from GitHub. We have no count of how many sites run AWT or which versions they are on.
The contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, we receive three things: your name, your email address, and your message. Nothing else: no IP address or browser details.
Your message is stored privately in this website’s own database and emailed to us, with your address set as the reply-to so we can answer you. It goes nowhere else: no CRM, no third-party form service, no mailing list.
Messages stay in the database until we delete them by hand. If you would like a copy of what you sent, or want it deleted, email us and we will do it.
Cookies
Visiting this website sets no cookies. The one exception: if you use the light and dark switch, a cookie called awt_color_scheme remembers your choice, so the site looks the way you left it next time. It holds a single word: light, dark or auto.
Analytics
There are none. No analytics service, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no third-party scripts of any kind. The pages you visit here are nobody’s business but yours. Old school.
Who to ask
AWT is made by CLSDIR. For any question, contact us.
If we ever change how any of this works, we will update this page.
